Guar gum, the popular goma guar, gomme de guar or guma guar is an important product for several industries including food, oil drilling, paper, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, explosives, mining and cattle feed. Guar gum comes from the endosperm of legume plant called Cyamopsis tetragonoloba which grows well in dry arid regions. India has a favorable climate to support guar production and therefore today successfully satisfies about 80% needs of guar across the world. Regions like Rajasthan, Guajarat, Punjab, Harayana are major contributors for guar gum in India.

There are number of guar gum manufacturers in India who process fine quality guar gum powder from the seeds of guar plant using a customized approach. These manufacturers process guar gum depending upon the requirement of the end product and also export it to other countries. Guar gum is exported internationally to various countries like UK, USA etc from India.

Thanks to the latest technologies and machinery inventions which have made the production process faster and efficient enough to satisfy the increasing needs of the guar gum. Compared to the traditional process of manufacturing guar gum, the modern production process offers much time savings and cost efficiency to the manufacturers who are able to produce bulk quantities of guar gum and its products within short span of time and also with lesser production costs thereby passing on the benefit to their clients. Today Indian guar gum manufacturers are supplying high quality guar gum powder and other guar products like guar spilts, guar meal for use in various industries across different countries.

According to estimation nearly 6 to 8 lakh tons of guar is produced annually in India which is finely processed at the production units with latest technology machines and exported to other countries. A well-laid procedure is followed for processing of the gum which starts with separation of husk and germs from the seeds obtained from the plant. The seeds are carefully selected and are subjected to processes like roasting, grinding and polishing. The refined guar slits are further processed. Guar splits are selected for processing and are screened to remove dust and other unwanted particles. They are then prehydrated by mixing with appropriate amounts of water in a double cone mixer. These hydrated splits are then passed through flaker. The flaked splits are then grounded, dried and powdered. To obtain fine quality guar gum powder, the obtained powdered guar is sieved. The guar gum may be further clarified (purified) by dissolution in water, precipitation and recovery with ethanol or isopropanol. The husk and germ obtained from the process are high in protein and therefore ideal substances to be used as cattle feed.
